The Best Proverbs for Generosity

Generosity is one of the non-negotiables in life. We can all do more of it.

Part of living a godly live will entail giving to others. It also means that we must uplift those who are down.

Five Proverbs for Generosity

Proverbs 11:24

“Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.”

There’s an old saying that we attract what we fear. If that’s the case, then this proverb has plenty to offer us.

First, we must acknowledge how good it feels to give to others. It could be in the way of leaving a larger tip at a restaurant. Or helping someone with their groceries.

Whatever the good deed may be, God will shine his light upon us for prioritizing others. We live in a divided world.

Going out of our way to provide comfort for others can make all the difference.

Proverbs 22:9

“Blessed are the generous, because they feed the poor.”

This proverb shows us that we’ll receive additional blessings if we look after the poor. It doesn’t mean in financial gain.

It means that our hearts will be filled when we give to those in need. When we provide meals for others, it nourishes their mind and body.

We are do fortunate to live blessed lives. Let’s do good unto others and provide food to those who need it more than we do.

Proverbs 28:27

“Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed.”

God mentions the poor lots during the Bible. This is because they are people just like you and me.

We all go through up-and-down economic conditions in our life. And we never know when we could be short on change ourselves.

We must not cast judgement on those experiencing economic hardships. We should give to the less fortunate in anyway that we can.

Proverbs 11:26

“People curse those who hoard their grain, but they bless the one who sells in time of need.”

When times are good, we often want more. Sometimes it feels like we’re never satisfied with what we have.

Let’s aim to spread our wealth and enrich others. When times are good, we can give a little more to our church or the homeless in our community.

When times are bad, we can still look out for others by offering comforting words. Spreading God’s message can turn someone’s life around.

Proverbs 11:25

“The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”

If you’re ever feeling depressed or anxious, try giving to others. Sometimes, we magnify our own problems and spend too much time thinking of ourselves.

When we turn our attention to others, it can have an uplifting experience for us too.
