Proverbs 26:20 “Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip a quarrel dies down.”

Our God is a God of peace. As His children, He calls us to lives of peace as well. Gossip is the enemy of peace. We are only to say kind, encouraging, or empowering words to others. If we can’t find any of those to say, then it’s better we don’t speak at all. Practice self-control when it comes to speaking about others. Pretend they were in the room with you. If they were, would you still speak the same words? This is the best first response we can say. We all have emotions, and sometimes they overpower us. But, if we can stop and take a deep breath first, we’re more likely to say something positive and encouraging that can defuse a situation.

What’s your favorite Bible verse for kindness?

We could all use more of it in everyday life. With how divided everyone seems to be in the modern day. Everyone seems to have an opinion on something, which should be celebrated, but not at the cost of dividing everyone.

Trying to find ways to stay sane in this crazy world can be challenging, but I always turn to my Bible when things get tough. I start at the beginning and sometimes just read until something clicks with me. It’s helped keep me grounded in these challenging times.
